Although she may look ready to race, our desperate attempt at a quick repair failed and we were out of time to stay in the competition - but we still needed to get home, so there was more work to be done!
The engine is rebuilt using another block with rods and crank kindly donated by "Knighty"; sourced and picked up by David Morrison.
This is our last day in Launceston...
...so as soon as the engine is re-assembled, the Charger is driven straight to Queenstown, even though it is late, raining and the crew at D and L Morrison think we are mad.
We did make it to Queenstown, even though the weather was against us, and we forgot to put any oil in the gearbox! :)) They are pretty noisy when they have no oil.
Sorry Zelk, i know how much effort you put in and i have no doubt that you were the best choice possible for co-driver; sorry you didn't get the chance to prove your self -and not to forget Tianne in the back ground, who was also a very important part of the team!
David and Michael, it would not have been the same without you guys, hope you enjoyed the experience, and can forgive me for my bad moods when things go pear shaped. Michael your ability to capture a great image has never failed me!
Back at the boat and ready to leave the lovely apple isle... for now.
Headed for home along the Hume.
Last fuel stop before home!
